STAT5 alpha는 IL2, IL3, IL7, GM-CSF, erythropoietin, thrombopoietin 등 다양한 리간드에 의해 활성화되며, TEL/JAK2 유전자 융합이 있는 골수종 및 림프종에서 종양 형성과 관련이 있습니다.
또한 BCL2L1/BCL-X(L) 발현을 유도하여 항아폽토시스 기능을 수행하며, 생식, 수유, 면역 기능 및 체성 성장 등 다양한 생리적 기능에 관여합니다.
