Target Information

RGS14 is a member of the regulator of G-protein signaling family which contains one RGS domain, two Raf-like Ras-binding domains (RBDs), and one GoLoco domain.
RGS14 attenuates G-protein signaling by binding to activated, GTP-bound G alpha subunits via its GoLoco domain, functioning as a GTPase activating protein (GAP).
This accelerates GTP hydrolysis, allowing G alpha subunits to reassociate with G beta/gamma heterodimers, forming inactive G-protein complexes and terminating the signal.
RGS14 also acts as a positive modulator of microtubule polymerization and spindle organization through a G(i)-alpha-dependent mechanism, playing roles in cell division, NGF-mediated neurite outgrowth, and stress resistance.
It may be involved in visual memory processing and hippocampal-based learning and memory.
