Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. Purity is >95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Target Information
The extensive family of COL gene products (collagens) includes several chain types such as fibril-forming interstitial collagens (types I, II, III, and V) and basement membrane collagens (type IV), each with multiple isoforms.
Collagens are fibrous extracellular matrix proteins with high tensile strength and are major components of connective tissue including tendons and cartilage.
All collagens contain a triple helix domain and often show lateral self-association to form complex connective tissues.
Several collagens also contribute to cell adhesion, crucial for maintaining tissue architecture and function.
