Target Information

The proteasome is a multicatalytic proteinase complex with a highly ordered ring-shaped 20S core structure composed of 4 rings of 28 non-identical subunits (two α rings and two β rings). Proteasomes are abundant in eukaryotic cells and cleave peptides in an ATP/ubiquitin-dependent, non-lysosomal pathway.
The immunoproteasome plays an essential role in processing class I MHC peptides.
PSMB9 encodes a member of the proteasome B-type (T1B) family, a 20S core β subunit located in the class II region of the MHC. Proteolytic processing is required to generate a mature subunit.
