Target Information
GDP dissociation inhibitors (GDIs) are proteins that regulate the GDP-GTP exchange reaction of rab family members, small GTP-binding proteins of the ras superfamily. These proteins are involved in vesicular trafficking between cellular organelles. GDIs slow the rate of GDP dissociation from rab proteins and release GDP from membrane-bound rabs.
The GDI2 gene contains repetitive elements, suggesting susceptibility to inversion/deletion rearrangements. GDI2 is ubiquitously expressed.
