CHK2 has a predicted molecular weight of 61 kDa, and by Western blot, MA5-15416 detects CHK2 between 60–65 kDa.
Target Information
CHEK2 (CHK2) is a serine/threonine kinase and a key component of the DNA damage checkpoint pathway. Mutations in CHK2 have been linked to various cancers. Upon DNA damage, CHK2 phosphorylates multiple modulators of cell cycle control, including tumor suppressor proteins such as BRCA1. This phosphorylation enables BRCA1 to restore cell survival after DNA damage. CHK2 functions as a putative tumor suppressor, and mutations in the CHK2 gene are associated with Li-Fraumeni syndrome, sarcomas, breast cancer, and brain tumors.
