Target Information
The QSOX1 gene (Quiescin Q6) is a fusion of two ancient genes: thioredoxin and ERV1. Its expression increases as fibroblasts exit the proliferative cycle and enter quiescence, suggesting a role in growth regulation.
QSOX1 oxidizes sulfhydryl groups to form disulfide bonds in proteins. Expression is induced by hypoxia and may protect cells from oxidative stress-induced apoptosis.
