Product Specific Information
- For immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
hCG beta is the beta chain of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), a 40 kDa glycoprotein hormone produced by trophoblastic cells of the placenta starting 10–12 days after conception.
hCG consists of alpha and beta subunits that are non-covalently associated. The alpha subunit is common to pituitary hormones (FSH, LH, TSH), while the beta subunit confers biological specificity.
During early pregnancy, hCG stimulates the corpus luteum to produce progesterone, maintaining the secretory endometrium.
hCG levels are low in non-pregnant individuals but rise sharply during pregnancy.
Dysfunction in hCG expression is associated with gestational trophoblastic tumor and hydatidiform mole.
