Product Specific Information
This recombinant protein is suitable for use as a control in ELISA and Western blot assays.
Lyophilized product is stable at room temperature for up to 3 weeks. Store lyophilized product desiccated at -20°C.
Upon reconstitution, store at 4°C for 2–7 days or aliquot and store at -20°C.
For long-term storage, add HSA or BSA to a final concentration of 0.1%. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Reconstitute using distilled water to a concentration not less than 100 µg/mL.
Target Information
Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) binds to the EGF Receptor (EGFR), a 170 kDa protein kinase. Activation of EGFR initiates multiple cellular pathways in response to environmental stimuli.
EGFR forms homo- or heterodimers with other family members, each initiating distinct signaling pathways via SH2-containing effector proteins.
EGF is widely expressed in kidney, cerebrum, prostate, and salivary glands, acting as a potent mitogenic factor. The phosphorylated receptor recruits adapter proteins such as GRB2, activating downstream cascades including RAS-RAF-MEK-ERK, PI3K-AKT, PLCγ-PKC, and STAT pathways.
Research suggests EGF may also be involved in NF-κB signaling activation.
Defects in the EGF gene are linked to hypomagnesemia type 4, and dysregulation has been associated with cancer progression.
