Target Information
GCPR54 is a galanin-like G protein coupled receptor that binds metastin, a peptide encoded by the metastasis suppressor gene KISS1.
The tissue distribution of the protein suggests involvement in endocrine regulation and the onset of puberty.
GPR54 is expressed in various human tissues including brain regions, placenta, pancreas, spinal cord, spleen, leukocytes, testis, lymph node, thymus, intestine, stomach, lung, and kidney, and is abundant in tumor tissues.
In rat, expression is found in liver, intestine, and multiple brain regions including pons, midbrain, thalamus, hypothalamus, hippocampus, amygdala, cortex, and striatum.
ESTs have been isolated from normal placenta and kidney cancer libraries.
