Target Information
The cysteine-rich secretory proteins (CRISP) family comprises four proteins strongly expressed in the male reproductive tract and implicated in male fertility.
CRISP2 (also known as TPX1) is involved in adhesion between spermatids and Sertoli cells and may play a role in sperm-egg fusion with CRISP1.
CRISP2 regulates Ca²⁺ influx through ryanodine receptors (RYR), potentially influencing acrosome reaction or sperm motility.
It also binds to MAP3K11 and localizes to the developing acrosome, suggesting a role in acrosome development.
