Target Information
The cytochrome c oxidase (COX) family functions as the final electron donor in the respiratory chain, driving a proton gradient across the inner mitochondrial membrane and resulting in water production. The mammalian COX apoenzyme is a dimer composed of 13 subunits per monomer, derived from both mitochondrial and nuclear genes.
COX6B2 (Cytochrome c oxidase subunit 6B2), also known as Cytochrome c oxidase subunit VIb isoform 2 or Cancer/testis antigen 59, is an 88-amino-acid mitochondrial protein that links two COX monomers to form a dimer. COX6B2 is specifically expressed in testis and is upregulated in certain cancer cell lines.
