CDO1 (cysteine dioxygenase, type I)는 cysteine dioxygenase 계열에 속하며 organosulfur 생합성에 관여합니다.
이 단백질은 철과 아연을 보조인자로 사용하여 L-cysteine과 산소를 3-sulfinoalanine으로 전환하는 dioxygenase로 작용합니다.
CDO1은 단량체 형태로 존재하며, 간과 태반에서 높은 수준으로 발현되고, 뇌, 췌장, 심장에서 낮은 수준으로 발현됩니다.
또한 pyruvate-, sulfate-, taurine 관련 대사 경로에 관여하며, 세포 내 cysteine 농도의 중요한 조절자 역할을 합니다.
