Target Information
Copper (Cu) is an essential trace metal acting as a cofactor for numerous mammalian enzymes. Genetic disorders such as Menkes disease and Wilson disease result from disrupted Cu homeostasis. CTR1 is a high-affinity copper-uptake protein, primarily responsible for copper transport in mammalian cells. Its C-terminal domain resembles the Raf kinase family, while the N-terminal region encodes a unique domain. CTR1 plays a key role in maintaining Cu balance and embryonic development.
