Target Information
This gene encodes a C2H2 zinc finger protein with transactivation and DNA-binding activities. It has anti-proliferative properties and is thought to function as a tumor suppressor. Overexpression during fetal development is associated with transient neonatal diabetes mellitus (TNDM). The gene is imprinted, with preferential expression of the paternal allele, though biallelic expression occurs in peripheral blood leucocytes. Tissue-specific imprinting results from variable utilization of monoallelic and biallelic promoters. Multiple transcript variants with differing 5′ UTRs encode two isoforms.
