PCNA (polymerase delta auxiliary protein)는 DNA 복제에 필수적이며 DNA excision 및 mismatch repair 경로에 관여합니다.
PCNA는 CDK inhibitor p21, endonucleases Fen1과 XPG, 그리고 DNA cytosine 5-methyltransferase (MCMT)에 결합합니다.
세포 증식 상태를 확인하는 유용한 마커로, 종양 조직의 예후 평가에도 활용됩니다.
PCNA는 세포주기의 G1 및 S 단계에서 발현되며, DNA polymerase delta의 보조인자로 작용하여 DNA 복제 시 선도 가닥 합성의 효율을 높입니다.
DNA 손상 시 PCNA는 ubiquitination을 거쳐 RAD6-의존적 DNA 수리 경로에 참여합니다.
