Target Information
Holliday Junction Recognition Protein (HJURP) is a centromeric protein that plays a key role in the incorporation and maintenance of the histone H3-like variant CENPA at centromeres.
It acts as a specific chaperone for CENPA, facilitating incorporation of newly synthesized CENPA into nucleosomes at replicated centromeres.
HJURP prevents CENPA-H4 tetramerization and premature DNA binding, and directly binds to Holliday junctions.
