PA1-755 detects prostate apoptosis response protein (Par-4) from human and rat tissues.

• Successfully used in Western blot procedures.
• Detects ~40 kDa Par-4 protein in AT-3 cell extract.
• In rat tissue extracts (testes, spleen, ovary, lung, skeletal muscle), detects ~40 kDa and ~38 kDa Par-4 proteins.
• In T47D cell extracts, detects ~40 kDa Par-4 and a smaller ~20 kDa unknown protein.
• Immunizing peptide corresponds to amino acids 322–340 from human Par-4.
• Immunizing peptide (Cat. # PEP-060) available for neutralization and control experiments.

Target Information

This gene encodes a tumor suppressor protein that selectively induces apoptosis in cancer cells through intracellular and extracellular mechanisms.

• Intracellular mechanism: Inhibits pro-survival pathways and activates Fas-mediated apoptosis.
• Extracellular mechanism: Secreted form binds GRP78 on the cell surface, activating extrinsic apoptotic pathway.
• Located on human chromosome 12q21, often deleted or mutated in tumors.
• Plays a role in progression of age-related diseases.
