Target Information
Peroxiredoxin (Prx) is a growing peroxidase family involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Mammalian Prxs consist of six members classified into typical 2-Cys, atypical 2-Cys, and 1-Cys Prx subgroups. Except Prx VI (1-Cys subgroup), other 2-Cys Prx isotypes possess thioredoxin-dependent peroxidase (TPx) activity, utilizing thioredoxin, thioredoxin reductase, and NADPH. Mammalian Prxs range from 20–30 kDa and are localized in various compartments: Prx I, II, and VI in cytosol; Prx III in mitochondria; Prx IV in ER and secretion; Prx V in peroxisome, mitochondria, and cytosol.
