GLB1L3 (beta-galactosidase-1-like protein 3)는 glycosyl hydrolase 35 family에 속하는 653 아미노산 단백질입니다.
GLB1L3는 세 가지 alternative splicing isoform으로 존재하며, 인간 염색체 11q25에 위치한 유전자에 의해 암호화됩니다.
염색체 11은 약 1억 3천5백만 염기쌍과 1,400개의 유전자를 포함하며, 유전자 및 질병 연관성이 높은 영역으로 알려져 있습니다.
이 염색체에 위치한 Atm 유전자는 DNA 이중 가닥 절단 후 세포 주기 정지 및 세포사멸 조절에 중요하며, 돌연변이는 ataxia-telangiectasia를 유발합니다.
또한 Jervell and Lange-Nielsen syndrome, Jacobsen syndrome, Niemann-Pick disease, hereditary angioedema, Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome 등이 염색체 11의 결함과 관련되어 있습니다.
