Target Information
MYCT1 was initially identified as a novel target of the c-Myc oncogene in myeloid cells. It is a widely expressed nuclear protein whose overexpression can promote apoptosis, alter morphology, enhance anchorage-independent cell growth, and contribute to tumorigenic conversion. MYCT1 binds to promoters of several c-Myc-regulated genes, and deregulation of these genes may underlie observed phenotypes. RUNX1-ETO fusion protein is thought to affect proliferation and responsiveness of hematopoietic progenitor cells downstream of MYCT1.
