Target Information
Cyclin E belongs to the highly conserved cyclin family, characterized by periodic changes in protein abundance throughout the cell cycle. Cyclins regulate CDK kinases, with distinct expression and degradation patterns coordinating mitotic events. Cyclin E forms a complex with CDK2, essential for the G1/S transition. Overexpression is linked to tumorigenesis due to chromosome instability. It also associates with NPAT protein, contributing to histone gene expression and cell-cycle progression. Multiple splice variants have been identified.
