Target Information
HOXC11 belongs to the homeobox gene family, which encodes conserved transcription factors involved in morphogenesis across multicellular organisms. Mammals have four homeobox clusters—HOXA, HOXB, HOXC, and HOXD—located on different chromosomes. HOXC11 is part of the HOXC cluster on chromosome 12 and binds to the promoter element of lactase-phlorizin hydrolase, potentially playing a role in early intestinal development. An alternatively spliced variant encoding a shorter isoform has also been described.
