• Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature (RT).
• Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at RT for 20 min.

Target Information

ICAM-1 (CD54) is an 85–110 kDa single-chain type I integral membrane glycoprotein with an extracellular domain of five immunoglobulin superfamily repeats, a transmembrane region, and a cytoplasmic domain.
ICAM-1 has seven potential N-linked glycosylation sites and shares considerable amino acid sequence homology with ICAM-3 (CD50) and ICAM-2 (CD102).
It binds to integrins CD11a/CD18 (LFA-1) or CD11b/CD18 (Mac-1) and serves as a receptor for Rhinovirus.
ICAM-1 is expressed by activated endothelial cells and detected on epithelial cells, fibroblasts, chondrocytes, B and T lymphocytes, monocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, and neutrophils. Expression increases upon inflammation and is also found in some carcinoma and melanoma cells.
Soluble ICAM-1 is detectable in plasma and elevated in patients with various inflammatory syndromes.
