Target Information

MPP5 (Membrane Protein, Palmitoylated 5) plays a critical role in neurogenesis and hematopoiesis. It is essential for establishing and maintaining cell polarity in epithelial cells and neurons. MPP5 participates in the Par-3 complex, which supports tight junctions in epithelial cells. Mutations in MPP5 are linked to severe neurologic impairments such as global developmental delay (GDD) and behavioral abnormalities. In animal models, MPP5 contributes to early differentiation of multipotent progenitors and supports long-term lineage-specific development, particularly in myeloid and lymphoid cells. Variants of MPP5 disrupt normal cellular function, causing developmental and functional defects.
