Target Information
The HADH gene encodes a mitochondrial enzyme involved in the β-oxidation pathway, catalyzing the oxidation of straight-chain 3-hydroxyacyl-CoAs. It shows highest activity with medium-chain-length fatty acids. Mutations in this gene are associated with familial hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia. A related pseudogene exists on chromosome 15.
