Target Information
IFI-44 (interferon-induced protein 44), also known as p44 or MTAP44, is a 444 amino acid protein that localizes to the cytoplasm and forms microtubular structures upon induction by IFN-betas.
Human IFI-44 shares 97% sequence similarity with chimpanzee, suggesting a conserved role between species.
The IFI-44 gene maps to human chromosome 1, which spans 260 million base pairs, contains over 3,000 genes, and comprises nearly 8% of the human genome.
Chromosome 1 includes many disease-associated genes involved in conditions such as familial adenomatous polyposis, Stickler syndrome, Parkinson’s disease, Gaucher disease, schizophrenia, and Usher syndrome.
