Target Information
Histamine H2 Receptor (HRH2) stimulates adenylate cyclase activity and mediates acid secretion in the stomach. It also plays a role in gastrointestinal motility and secretion. Inhibition of H2 receptor activity is the basis for treatments of acid-peptic disorders. Expression has been reported in bone marrow, brain, heart, lymph node, nose, placenta, spinal cord, and stomach. An EST has been isolated from a kidney library.
