Target Information
MAP3K5 (ASK1) is a serine/threonine kinase abundantly expressed in human heart and pancreas. It is activated by various extracellular stimuli such as cytokines, growth factors, and environmental stresses.
ASK1 (Apoptosis Signal-Regulating Kinase 1), also known as MAPKKK5, activates MKK4 and MKK6, which in turn activate JNK and p38 MAP kinases.
ASK1 is activated by TNFR and Fas through interactions with TRAF family members and Daxx. Overexpression induces apoptosis, while inactive forms inhibit TNF-α-induced apoptosis. ASK1 is expressed in a variety of human and mouse tissues.
