Sall4 단백질은 인간 염색체 20에 위치한 Sall4 유전자에 의해 암호화되며, Spalt-like 단백질 패밀리에 속합니다.
이 단백질은 체세포 줄기세포 유지에 중요한 역할을 하며, 줄기세포 바이오마커로 연구되고 있습니다.
Sall4는 zinc finger 전사인자로, Oct4 및 Sox2와 상호작용하며 Nanog와 복합체를 형성하여 배아줄기세포(ESCs)의 다능성 유지에 관여합니다.
