Target Information
Voltage-gated potassium (Kv) channels represent a complex class of voltage-gated ion channels with diverse physiological roles, including:
- Regulation of neurotransmitter release
- Control of heart rate and insulin secretion
- Modulation of neuronal excitability and epithelial electrolyte transport
- Involvement in smooth muscle contraction and cell volume regulation
This gene encodes a member of the potassium channel, voltage-gated, subfamily G, which acts as a gamma subunit of the voltage-gated potassium channel. Delayed-rectifier type channels containing this subunit may contribute to cardiac action potential repolarization.
