EIF2AK3 (PERK)는 다양한 환경적 스트레스에 반응하여 eIF2-alpha의 Ser51을 인산화하는 4가지 키나아제 중 하나입니다. 이는 단백질 합성을 감소시키는 역할을 하며, ER 내 단백질의 오접힘에 의해 신호가 개시됩니다.
EIF2AK3의 결함은 Wolcott-Rallison syndrome (WRS)의 원인으로, 이는 조기 발병 당뇨병, 골이형성증, 성장 지연, 간 및 신장 기능 장애 등 다양한 증상을 보이는 희귀 상염색체 열성 질환입니다.
