This antibody detects endogenous levels of total Thrombospondin 2 protein.
Target Information
Thrombospondin proteins (TSP 1–5) form a family of glycoproteins involved in cell-to-cell and cell-to-matrix signaling. These extracellular, cell-surface proteins can form homo- and hetero-multimers.
Thrombospondins play roles in development, platelet aggregation, cell adhesion and migration, and cell cycle progression.
- Thrombospondin 1: Released from platelets in response to thrombin; transient component of the extracellular matrix during tissue development and repair.
- Thrombospondin 2: Shares high homology with Thrombospondin 1, with overlapping but distinct functions.
- Thrombospondin 3: Developmentally regulated heparin-binding protein.
- Thrombospondin 4: Neuronally expressed and promotes neurite outgrowth.
