Target Information
This gene encodes a protein identified in a screen for genes expressed in metastatic cells, particularly mammary adenocarcinoma cell lines. Its expression correlates with metastatic potential in multiple carcinoma types but is also present in normal tissues. Although initially thought to be part of the NuRD complex, it is now believed to represent a distinct yet closely related protein. These proteins share similar domains, including DNA-binding, dimerization, and methylation-associated regions. The gene product likely contributes to transcriptional regulation through chromatin remodeling.
