Target Information
Apolipoproteins act as stabilizers for lipoprotein particles. Quantitative measurements of HDL, LDL, and VLDL in human serum are used to estimate coronary heart disease risk. Immunological quantification of certain apolipoproteins (especially A-1 and B) may provide more accurate risk estimation than lipoprotein particle measurements.
Apolipoproteins are derived from human plasma by density gradient ultracentrifugation and HPLC.
