mRNA 결합 단백질로 번역 연장에 관여합니다. mRNA turnover 조절에 중요한 역할을 하며, decapping 이후 단계에서 작용하는 것으로 추정됩니다. 또한 actin dynamics, 세포 주기 진행, mRNA decay, 스트레스 반응 및 세포벽 무결성 유지에도 관여합니다.
Syntenin (SDCBP)과 함께 TP53/p53 및 그 의존적 세포사멸을 조절하며, TNF-α 매개 세포사멸에도 관여합니다. Polyamine의 신경 돌기 연장 및 생존에 대한 효과를 매개하며, 뇌 발달 및 기능, 골격근 줄기세포 분화에 중요한 역할을 할 수 있습니다. 또한 HTLV-1 Rex 단백질 및 HIV-1 Rev 단백질의 세포 내 보조인자로서, 레트로바이러스 전사체의 mRNA 수출에 필수적입니다.
