Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the neurotrophin family, which controls survival and differentiation of mammalian neurons.
It is closely related to nerve growth factor and brain-derived neurotrophic factor.
This protein may be involved in the maintenance of the adult nervous system and influence neuronal development during embryogenesis when expressed in human placenta.
NTF3-deficient mice show severe limb movement defects.
The mature peptide sequence is identical across mammals including human, pig, rat, and mouse.
